Case Study

Coupling Assembly

  • Size: .25 lbs.
  • Alloy: 8620
  • Notes: 3 castings assembled to add value

A new customer came to us with a package of parts that needed to be cast.   These are all small parts and relatively simple geometries, that screamed investment casting.

Through the quoting process and conversations with our customer TPM tries to learn as much as we can about the parts we are asked to make.    It is our philosophy that the more we understand your parts and needs, AND the more you understand the IC process and our capabilities the better and smoother we will work together.    One question we often ask is “what do you do with this part once you get it”.   In this case the customer explained, “we ream the holes and put them back in stock”.    “And then what happens”?    We pull 2 of part A and 1 of part B and send them to be assembled and we put them back in stock”.    “And then”?    “They are either pulled and used in our finished part or shipped as is as a replacement part”.

By understanding this sequence of events TPM was able to offer that we can do all of this and provide you the final assembly, reducing all of the in and out of stock and the timing to get the intermediate operations completed.   By asking questions and learning more about the parts TPM is able to add value by saving our customer time, money and headaches.
