Cryogenic Clamp Fitting

A new customer had an issue with coming up with the best solution to linking one section of a cryogenic assembly to the delivery end of the assembly. Our customer was one of two design teams tasked with a new cryogenic tank and delivery system. Both designs were new and innovative but needed to be joined without jeopardizing any of the newly derived benefits of the combined system. The part needed to be durable for use in the field, lightweight so as not to exceed project specified parameters and corrosion resistant.
Working as a team, including both design groups and TPM, several ideas soon formed a single piece cast link, and in the process a ring with welded bosses was incorporated to eliminate another part. The new link provided proper connection/location points with minimal material. The cast CF8M (316) provided the strength and corrosion protection needed.
