IC Process To Save Time And Money

  • Notes: Core holes instead of drilling, broaching or milling

TPM always wants to better understand how a part is used – form, fit, function, etc. In this way we can work with our customer to best use the advantages of the Investment Casting Process to add the most value to a part.

An example is to core holes in the tooling and cast those holes in order to avoid expensive and time-consuming post process machining. By understanding how the part is used TM can offer ideas on casting features and the expected tolerances to expect from the casting. Often the feature can be cast and the resulting tolerances are functionally within the parts needs. Even if the features are cast near net size machining can be reduced or simplified.

An added benefit might be to add holes, slots, or pockets to reduce weight which most times will reduce the casting cost and any heat-treating costs. In many applications reduced weight is also a big benefit to the overall part function and its use in the field.

TPM is able to cast holes, slots, pockets and several other shapes into parts various alloys for our customer. The photo shows some typical examples.

The end result is that TPM is able to provide parts to our customer with cast features and dimensional repeatability.
