Replacing a six-part fabrication and weldment with a single casting and cutting cost by more than half, made the decision to switch to the investment casting process an easy one. The 5.5 pound component was a finalist in the Investment Casting Institute’s recent casting contest. It was cast by TPM Inc. of Sugar Land, TX in stainless steel (CF8M).

VP, Sales & Marketing, Antonio Garcia said the customer saved up to six hours of welding and machining per part and cost dropped by 52%.

The customer reduced the number of suppliers needed from three to one and reduced the part inventory from six parts to one, with no need to weld. The part arrived turnkey.
